SHOFCO Founder Dr. Kennedy Odede Receives Prestigious Humanitarian Award

Dr. Kennedy Odede, founder and CEO of SHOFCO, has received the 2024 Outstanding Humanitarian Award. The award was presented by Top Charts Africa, a well-known organization in Nigeria.

This recognition celebrates Dr. Odede’s dedication to improving lives in Kenya’s slums. He has focused on education, healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and economic empowerment. His work has positively impacted many underserved communities.

Dr. Odede started SHOFCO in 2004. He began with a soccer ball and Ksh20 in the Kibera slums of Nairobi. Since then, SHOFCO has grown into a major organization. It now serves over six million people every year in 40 counties across Kenya.

Dr. Odede’s goal has always been to help marginalized communities. He works to break the cycle of poverty and create long-term change.

Top Charts Africa honored Dr. Odede for his significant contributions. The Outstanding Humanitarian Award is given to individuals or organizations that make lasting positive changes in their communities. Dr. Odede’s leadership has been crucial in addressing inequality and creating opportunities.

Dr. Odede was nominated alongside other distinguished leaders. These included Osita Obidike of Rebuildx Africa, Otto Orondaam of Slum2School, and Gerald Abila of Barefoot Law. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Odede thanked the communities SHOFCO serves. He dedicated the award to them.

“I am truly honored to receive the 2024 Outstanding Humanitarian Award. This recognition belongs to the incredible communities we work with across Kenya at SHOFCO,” said Dr. Odede.

In addition to this award, Dr. Odede has received many honors. These include being named to TIME Magazine’s 2024 list of the 100 Most Influential People and the 2023 TIME100 Impact Award Africa.

Through SHOFCO’s approach, Dr. Odede continues to offer hope. He helps millions of Kenyans overcome poverty and marginalization.
