Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has claimed that he is on the Interpol Most Wanted list, as flagged by the government of Tanzania.

In a recent interview, Babu shared an incident where his visit to Tanzania was interrupted by a three-hour detention at the country’s airport. He explained that upon arriving in Dar es Salaam, he was unaware that his name had been added to the Interpol list of wanted individuals.

“I was shocked when I arrived at the airport and presented my passport for clearance, only to find my name listed among the most wanted,” Owino recounted. “I wasn’t allowed to enter Dar es Salaam and was held at the airport for three hours,” he added.

The MP also mentioned that he had been banned from entering Uganda and criticized the leadership of both nations for fostering division rather than unity. He suggested that Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu should apologize to him for the incident.

Babu further questioned the reasons behind his travel restrictions, asserting that he had no personal or business interests in Tanzania. However, he acknowledged the country’s strong policies despite the ongoing issue.

“It’s unfortunate that the Tanzanian government put me on the Interpol Most Wanted list. President Suluhu owes me an apology,” Babu stated.
