Kenyan rap icon Nazizi Hirji is still grappling with the deep grief of losing her son, Jazeel, following a tragic incident during a family vacation in December 2023. Jazeel passed away after falling off a balcony on Christmas Day, leaving the artist and her family devastated.
Recently, Nazizi opened up to her followers, sharing how the pain of his absence continues to weigh heavily on her heart. During a trip to Tanzania, where she enjoyed a boat ride, Nazizi reflected on the memories she shared with her late son.
The boat rides were something Jazeel adored, and as Nazizi took in the scenery, she found herself wishing he could have been there to experience it with her.
She poured her heart out on social media, saying, “There are so many things I wish my baby Jaz was around for. He loved boat rides, and every time I go somewhere or do something, I wish he was here with me. These past two weeks on the island have brought up so many emotions.
The last time we were here, Jazeel was with us, experiencing the island for the first time. My heart breaks every single second. Please pray for me. I’m not as strong as you think. I miss my son—his laugh, his little fingers, his voice… his everything. It just doesn’t feel fair.”
In a past interview with Nairobi News, Nazizi recalled the devastating day she received the heartbreaking news of her son’s accident. “I had been with my cousin, Jaffarai, in Tanzania when I got the call.
They told me there had been an accident with my son. I rushed to the hospital with Jaffarai, but it was too late by the time we arrived. He was with his dad, and I couldn’t comprehend what had happened until we got there.”
As Nazizi continues to mourn, her fans and supporters continue to send prayers and messages of strength during this incredibly difficult time.
